Meet the computers/composers!

Facebooktwitter

Join researchers from across Europe to hear for yourself how computers can learn to compose music.

Meet the computers/composers!  is the first concert ever performed in which all of the music played  has been written by a computer. More importantly, by a computer which has learned by itself to do so!

Meet the computers/composers! is a journey through the history of music. First of all, the Renaissance will then move through Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods. Finally, the concert will end with 20th Century modernism, and modern folk and pop. Computers that have learned to create are the composers of all this music.

Finally, during the aftershow, the Mark d’Inverno quintet will lead us on a more informal exploration of jazz, including classics and new work composed by humans and computers.

The concert is a result of machine learning research, funded by the European Commission, in the project Learning To Create (Lrn2Cre8), FET project number 610859 and ERC Advanced Grant 291156, Flow Machines.
